Active Case Finding Of Tuberculosis In Vulnerable Groups In Majene Regency 2025

Abstract

Tuberculosis program management is carried out through routine disease screening activities. One recommendation for screening is in high-risk TB populations such as school dormitories (pesantren), prisons (detention centers), and halfway houses. Some Islamic boarding schools have poor ventilation, crowded living conditions, and poor hygiene, making them schools with a high risk of health problems. Tuberculosis screening in Islamic boarding schools is needed to detect and treat TB cases promptly. This study used a descriptive study design with a screening method at the DDI Baruga Majene Islamic Boarding School using a Google Sheet containing a TB screening questionnaire. The sample size was 279 male and female students. Data processing was carried out using the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that the number of female students was greater than male students, the age variable showed that the majority of students were aged 15-17 years, there were 4 students who had a history of contact with TB sufferers, for the BMI category there were 15 students with very thin BMI, 4 students with malnutrition, 18 active smokers and 142 passive smokers, there were 34 students who experienced coughing, 3 students had fever, 3 students had weight loss, 8 students had decreased appetite and 6 students had night sweats, 8 students were in the suspected category and 44 students were in At Risk of Latent TB. Of the 279 students, some experienced symptoms of tuberculosis which were called suspected TB and some others were classified as At Risk of Latent TB.
